The REB (Me100) Hydrogen Generator provides a unique source of ultrapure hydrogen for fuel cell tests, gas chromatography and other laboratory uses.
At 17" X 13" X 13" and 15 lbs., it fits easily on a laboratory bench or in a hood.
Far safer and more convenient than bottled gas or electrolysis.
There is no bottle swichover effects.
Since the hydrogen generator output is limited by the heater power, you are protected from hydrogen buildup to explosive levels if your laboratory is reasonably ventillated.
The metal membrane insures that the hydrogen is always 100% pure; there is no desiccant to replace.
How it works: The pump compresses the methanol-water mixture and pumps it through the boiler into the reactor.
There, it is converted to hydrogen and other gases. The membrane extracts the hydrogen as it is produced, leaving the waste gas (mostly CO2) behind. Waste gases exit the system separately.
The methanol-water feed rate can be adjusted at the pump. see paper describing process.
The hydrogen delivery pressure and flow rate adjusts itself to follow a fuel cell load almost instantaneously, while hydrogen purity is maintained throughout.
The extreme purity of the hydrogen means that a fuel cell fed with this hydrogen can be operated indefinately in dead-end mode (no bleed).

Operation:The Me 100 generates hydrogen by reforming methanol and water in a membrane reactor, a unique type of reactor that purifies the hydrogen through a metal membrane as it is generated.
Hydrogen is water-free, unlike with electrolysis. Plug the Me100 into a standard 120 V outlet to power the pump, heater and controller, fill the tank with 2:1 (by volume) methanol : water (mix this yourself, or buy from us), and turn the unit on. You've got hydrogen.
