Uniform Temperature Membrane Test Rig

Uniform Temperature Membrane Test Rig for testing the hydrogen permeation rate of metallic or other inorganic membranes. Stainless Steel, 2" Outer diameter by 8" or 18" long. Test volume is 1 1/2" ID with an internal thermocouple well. Includes couter -flow annulus to maintain temperature uniformity. High Pressure, 1500 psi (10MPa) Palladium alloy hydrogen extraction membrane

Used to extract hydrogen at high pressure, e.g. for nuclear reactor safety. Room temperature to 500 C; pressures up to 1500 psi (10MPa); 1/8" diameter x 2.5", or 1/8" x 57". Reduces the risk of over-pressure and hydrogen explosive events. See article. Includes brazing into customer-supplied fixture. Trombone membrane is typically sold as a trombone coild 14.25" x 3/4" Call re other sizes.

Silicone polymer membrane

Used to extract water, CO2, and H2S from syngas, landfill gas, etc. while retaining hydrogen, methane, and CO. 1000 cm2 membrane module. For other sizes, ask. Good to 60 psig. See here for permeability information and suggested applications.

Uniform Temperature Membrane Test Rig

Uniform Temperature Membrane Test Rig used to test hydrogen permeation in disc or tube (specify) membranes at pressures up to 300 psi and temperatures up to 450 C. Stainless Steel, 1.75" OD with an interior volume 1.4" ID" by 8" or 18" long, sealed by a copper or graphite gasket. A counter flow annulus provides improved temperature uniformity. Higher Pressure Uniform Temperature Membrane Test Rig

Higher Pressure Membrane Test Rig, 21" tall by 1.5" outer diameter; 7/8" ID, used to test hydrogen permeation at pressures up to 600 psi and temperatures up to 650 C. Test volume is 18" long, with a counter-flow annulus for improved temperature uniformity. Test volume sealed with a 1" swagelok fitting. Membranes attach to internal holder by swagelock and graphite ferrules, sold separately. Fits our high temperature furnace. See description and flows.

Flat plate Membrane Test Rig

Used to test hydrogen permeation 1.5 to 2 cm diameter, flat plate metal membranes at pressures up to 80 psi and temperatures up to 650 C. Sold with high-temperature heat tape, a bleed valve, and and an appropriate themocouple. To measure permeation, either connect a flow meter to the output, or vacuum it out and measure the pressure rise. Use with our temperature controllers, sold on this page.

Modified Swagelok unions and caps

Swagelok 3/8" unions and caps modified to accomodate the swelling of refractory membranes. Use with and 3/8" graphite ferrules (bleow) and apparatus above for testing brittle hydrogen permeation membranes or membranes that might swell.

Gaskets, ferrule, and O-rings

Graphite-steel or copper gaskets for 2 3/8" or 4" Conflat flanges. Used for sealing conflat flanges at pressures up to 350 psi and temperatures up to 400 C.Graphite ferrules; used for high temperatuere membranes. O-rings are for lower pressure <100 psi experiemts with 2 3/8" Conflat flanges.
